Before installing Oracle Business Intelligence, make sure that your computer meets the requirements described in the following sections:
Oracle Business Intelligence has the following minimum hardware requirements:

Oracle Business Intelligence on Windows has the following hardware requirements for the machine hosting the middle tier:

For a user to run Discoverer Plus on a client machine:
there must be at least 30 MB of Users Personal Profile Space for the Oracle Jar Cache
to install a Java Virtual Machine:
the user must have Administrative privileges on the client machine
there must be a minimum of between 25 MB and 50 MB of available disk space

Oracle Business Intelligence on Solaris has the following hardware requirements for the machine hosting the middle tier:

You can install Oracle Business Intelligence:
On a computer that is not on a network. You must configure the computer to use either a static IP address or a loopback IP address. Configure the computer to resolve the hostname of the computer to either the static IP address or the loopback IP address.
On a computer on a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) network. You must use a loopback configuration. Configure the computer to resolve the hostname of the computer to the loopback IP address.
Note: If you install on a machine that is not on a network or that is not on a DHCP network, you will only be able to use Discoverer from that machine. In other words, you will not be able to connect to Discoverer from any other machine.
Oracle Business Intelligence on Windows has the following operating system requirements for the machine hosting the middle tier:

Although the patches listed in the above table are current at the time of publication, Sun Microsystems, Inc. often updates the list of required patches. For the most current list of patches, go to the Sun web site (e.g. http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/show.pl?target=patches/J2SE).

Oracle Business Intelligence has the following database requirements:
When querying a multidimensional data source:
Oracle Database 10g 9.2.0.6 for all platforms or 9.2.0.5 with the latest OLAP patch for Windows-only (the latest 9.2.0.5 Windows patch is 3952897).
Oracle Database 10g 10.1.0.3 (or later), with the most recent OLAP patch applied. (Note that on Linux, Linux Itanium, and Solaris x86 platforms, you can install version 10.1.0.3 after downloading it from Oracle Technology Network. On all other platforms, you must first download version 10.1.0.2, then apply the appropriate patch set for 10.1.0.3.)

When querying a relational data source:
Any currently supported version of the Oracle database.
To take advantage of materialized views and analytic functions, a supported version of the Oracle Enterprise Edition database.
